Our story

I built Go Gymbecause I was sickof paying for four appsto do one thing.

Go Gym started as my own phone, cluttered with a habit app, a progress app, a workout app and a nutrition app. None of them talked to each other. So I built the one app I actually wanted - and gave it away for free.

The problem I kept hitting

You got good design, or good features. Never both for free.

  1. Great to use, but thin

Beautiful habit trackers that couldn't log a workout.

  2. Packed with features, but painful

Powerful nutrition apps that felt like spreadsheets.

  3. Both - but expensive

The few that got it right locked everything behind a subscription before you'd logged a single set.

So I did what most people do: I kept all of them. Four or five apps, four or five logins, my training data scattered across every one. Switching between them just to plan a week became its own chore.

I'm user one. Not a focus group, not a persona on a whiteboard - the actual person this app was made for.

So I became user one

I built it for myself first.

Here's how it got built. I had all those apps on my phone, and one at a time I rebuilt the parts I actually used inside Go Gym. Each time Go Gym did the job well enough to replace one, I deleted that app off my phone.

  • The habit appDaily check-ins and streaks.Deleted
  • The progress appWeigh-ins and trends that mean something.Deleted
  • The workout appPlanning, sets, reps, rest timers.Deleted
  • The nutrition appFood logging, calories, macros.Deleted

I kept going until there was nothing left to delete - and everything I needed lived in one place.

What I set out to make

Easy to use. Genuinely complete. Free.

I didn't want to make people choose. Go Gym is built to be all three at once.

  • Simple

One app for workouts, food, habits and weight. One login. Your data in one place.

  • Good-looking

A tracker that stays out of your way in the gym and feels good to open every day.

  • Free

Every tracker, unlimited and uncapped. The core app is free - paid plans only ever add bonus content.

The freemium promise

Free means free. Paid is just bonus.

Plenty of apps call themselves free, then cap the part you actually came for. Go Gym doesn't work like that.

Every tracker is free, and nothing is capped. Build and log as much as you want - create unlimited workouts, habits and routines, the parts other apps usually lock down. No paywalled progress reports. No “upgrade to continue.”

Paid plans only ever add bonus content on top - a no-ads tier, plus extras like PT-approved workout programmes from coaches. There's a generous set of those free too. Paid is additive: it unlocks more, it never blocks the tracking you came for.

If you never pay a penny, you still get a complete fitness tracker - every tool, unlimited, with nothing stopping you logging your training.
