Go Gym is entering beta - here's what we're looking for
Go Gym is moving from alpha to beta. Here's what beta testing means, how alpha and beta testing make the app better, and what feedback we're looking for from testers.
A week after opening our alpha, Go Gym is taking the next step: today we are entering beta. That means more testers, more real-world use, and a sharper focus on making the all-in-one fitness tracker ready for a full UK launch.
Here is what the beta stage means, how alpha and beta testing work together to make a better app, and exactly what we are hoping testers will help us with.
What is beta testing?
Beta is the stage after alpha, where a larger group of real users puts the app through its paces in everyday life. Where alpha proves the foundations work with a small, close group, beta is about scale and breadth: more people, more devices, more routines, and far more varied data. The goal is to catch the issues that only appear when a real community uses the app at once, and to confirm that the experience holds up beyond a handful of early users. Beta is the dress rehearsal before launch.
How do alpha and beta testing make the app better?
The two stages do different jobs, and together they catch far more than either could alone:
- Alpha proves the core works - fast logging, accurate numbers, the all-in-one experience - with a small group the team can support closely.
- Beta proves it works at scale - across many devices, habits, and edge cases the alpha group never hit.
- Alpha surfaces the deep, structural issues early, when they are cheap to fix.
- Beta surfaces the breadth issues - the rare bug, the confusing moment, the feature people wish existed - before they reach a launch audience.
- Both stages put real feedback at the centre, so the app that launches is shaped by the people who actually use it.
This is how a fitness tracker earns trust: not by launching big and hoping, but by testing carefully, listening, and fixing - so that on day one, logging is fast, the data is reliable, and the app genuinely feels like one place for everything.
What are we looking for from beta testers?
If you join the beta, the most valuable thing you can do is simply use Go Gym as part of your real routine and tell us what you find. In particular, we would love feedback on:
- Logging speed - is tracking workouts, food, habits, and weight fast enough to do every day?
- Accuracy and trust - do the calories, macros, and weight trends feel right?
- The all-in-one experience - does having everything in one app actually help your weekly review?
- League weigh-in tracking - for weight-loss league players, do the weigh-ins, milestones, and diet reports work the way you need?
- Anything confusing, broken, or missing - the rough edges we need to smooth before launch.
What happens next?
Beta is running now as we gather feedback, fix what needs fixing, and add the final polish. Go Gym is launching in the UK soon - a free, all-in-one fitness tracker for workouts, food, habits, and weight, shaped by everyone who tested it along the way. We will keep sharing each step here on the blog.
